Manyuu Hikenchou animated special 4 preview

And with that, Manyuu Hikenchou has come to an end for now. The sales have been… underwhelming. But hopefully there is more in the future at some point.

    Mother of god ‘ — ‘ incredible….
anyways…support the official release people!! Bought me a copy of Volume 4 to show support, we ain’t getting more unless people buy it. Think of what could happen if a lot of people in america buy it. hmm?

Nice. I have bought about $1000 worth of Japanese BDs, but I had to stop for a few months. I’m getting back on track though, going to buy 1 BD every month.

Haven’t bought any Manyuu Hikenchou, but I support supporting the creators!

If it was licensed by a Region 1 Anime Company I’d definitely buy it!

I don’t own a blu-ray player or PS3 so importing is not an option for me. Buying a Japanese DVD isn’t an option either since it’s region locked.

Like Naota said, the series sold underwhelming numbers so as much as it sucks, some fans banding together and buying some Japanese DVDs and Blu-rays probably wouldn’t make a huge difference. And not everyone wants to pay Japanese prices.

Some people can hate on Region 1 Anime Companies but it’s in cases like this that Japan (or specifically Hoods Entertainment) can cover their losses on some of their anime, and if it’s a mega hit in North America then the Japanese can actually justify making another season.
(e.g. The Big O did amazing on Cartoon Network and sold a lot of DVDs, so Sunrise made another season)

Plus I myself enjoy a great dub for an ecchi series as a bonus (e.g. Sekirei) so with all the reasons I said I’ll wait patiently for someone to license it.

Manyuu Hikenchou boxset for a reasonable price + a dub = Instant win!

It WILL happen (trust me, fanservice sells well in North America), but everyone who wants it has to let the companies know you want Manyuu Hikenchou!

Farewell Manyuu Hikenchou. You, Freezing and Seikon no Qwaser II made 2011 a HOT year!

Doubt 2012 can top it but at least there’s Queen’s Blade: Rebellion, maybe a new Hoods Entertainment project and who knows what else? :)

IMO Manyuu now officially is the greatest Oppai anime ever and has set a new standard!
(yes I think it’s better than Qwaser)

May all future ecchi shows hope to achieve its level of greatness!

(sorry for the long rant, I just really LIKE this series!)

I totaly agree with your post, might as well be my own words lol. I am a bit worried though, there hasnt even been an announcement of SnQ getting licensed yet, as well as many other anime I’ve been expecting for a long time now like Charger Girls. I’d totally buy them if they released over here.

Next season I’m pretty much just looking forward to Queen’s Blade Rebellion (very intently, except there’s still no sign of my favorites Melpha and Cattleya ;_; if they could only have been shown off the way the women in Manyuu have, oh my gaa) and Highschool DXD (doesnt look lke it’ll be competing for the best but it should satisfy very well). Other than that, probably Zero no Tsukaima F.

Agreed! Hey, never to late to start! This one looks like the best out of all of them all. Definitely gonna pick up a hard copy. I’d love to see a season 2.

Shame it didint do so well, finger cross on ovas though xD.

    • Luigi January 8, 2012 at 7:32 am

Again, OVAs won’t help unless people buy them. Come on peoples, at least buy one to legitimize the work the studio did.

  10. Olrox January 8, 2012 at 12:01 am

Special 2 and 3 are still better (3 was the best in my opinion, Kagefusa had HUGE boobs… but in this special they’re terribly small, so Chifusa gets all the credit again T_T)

I was expecting more from the 4th special *sigh*

    …and pic #5 …what the hell is that!!?? o_รด

Been visiting some other sites and the consensus seems to be that streaming a director’s cut version kills sales.

Probably a big reason why Qwaser II and Manyuu didn’t sell so hot. No one felt like buying it after being spoiled and watching them in their full glory for free.

It’d be interested to see some poll results

Would people still want a DC version asap even though it might ruin the chances of more seasons, or should all broadcast and streams should be censored until the DVD and Blu-rays? (longer wait but end result could be more worthwhile if there’s a continuation).

    • framefreeze100 January 10, 2012 at 6:50 pm

Of course I’m talking about the fans/customers who buy the Japanese releases.

People are still going illegally download/stream for free whether it’s uncensored asap or later. :)

    • Naota January 10, 2012 at 7:02 pm

Based on the early preorder rankings for High School DxD, it might suffer the same “meh” sales. Who knows for sure though if censoring it would prevent that or not.

    • gulab January 12, 2012 at 4:04 am

the only thing keeping me from buying is

      1. price
      2. region (if the prices were ok I’d try and find a way to play them)

      in that order..

They’re probably sell a lot more and make a lot more money if one BD didnt have to cost more than the entire BD set of the LOTR Trilogy does here…
